The DREAM Act
The Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act would provide certain undocumented students who graduate from U.S. high schools the opportunity to earn conditional permanent residency. It is sponsored by Senator Dick Durban (D- Illinois) and Representative Howard Berman (D- California). Originally introduced in 2007, the bill was stopped by a Republican filibuster. A revised version was reintroduced in 2009. North County’s Republican Congressmen all oppose the measure.
