President’s Message: As election approaches, commit to do something
Greetings Fellow EDC Democrats!
Take a deep breath and get ready for the last lap! July showed no slow-down in party activities with the Big Blue BBQ being a highlight for the month. The EDC was well represented even though it was held near the coast. We were probably the best-represented club there and we should all feel proud of our commitment.
August begins the last lap for the November election. If you have followed the traffic, the support organizations like GO team and OFA etc are all picking up the pace. The candidates are out there and the club is geared for an election-oriented next three months. We are at a time in the contest when we find out who really wants to win.
We need to clear our calendars, find our candidates, and dig into our pockets to make sure we have victory in November. Many of you are already engaged and probably have no more to give. But this is the time when we need you to look for something extra. For those of you who have not had the opportunity to participate, it is time to be counted.
There is no magic in getting things done. It is hard work and some sacrifice but it is important work because it is our future that is at stake. It is not just ours but our children, our family and our neighbor. I am asking all of you to commit to doing something over these next three months. Everyone is capable of giving something to make our future better. Look at yourself and decide what you can give and then commit to doing it.
Our history is filled with people who decided that they needed to do something, they did it, and now we live in a better place. The work isn’t complete, so let’s join that fellowship of activism and continue to realize the greatness of this country. You won’t regret it.
Escondido is a wonderful city to live in. It deserves our participation in its stewardship. We will have only ourselves to blame if the city we chose to move to is no longer the city we want to live in.
Let’s continue to turn North County from red to blue. Get active and Vote!!!
Respectfully,
Paul McNamara, President
