UPDATED: Will they come back? Dems reach out to Obama voters
The Los Angeles Times reports that more than one million Californians, mostly young people and members of minority groups, voted for the first time in 2008. An article takes a look at the “uphill battle” to get them back to the polls in 2010. The Washington Post (Sunday, June 20, 2010) says that the national Democratic Party plans to spend $50 million on an effort to get new voters for Obama in 2008 to return to the polls this November and vote again for Democrats. Karen Tumulty reports there were 15 million first-timers in 2008 and the Dems are “doubling down” to get them back.
