Sierra Club endorses Barron and Everitt
The Sierra Club has endorsed EDC members and candidates for Escondido City Council Richard Barron and Jason Everitt. The Sierra Club is the nation’s largest environmental organization with 1.3 million members nationwide.
“I am deeply honored to received the endorsement of the Sierra Club,” Everitt said. “Escondido is the gateway to the most precious openspace in North County. We must all be vigilant in the face of poor planning and sprawl development that threatens the future of this regional treasure. Together, as they say in the Sierra Club, we will ‘climb the mountains and get their good tidings.’”
“I am delighted to have won the endorsement of the Sierra Club,” said Barron. ”This is an important step to recognizing the environmental concerns and issues surrounding Escondido and protecting them from poor planning and damaging legislation.”
The San Diego Chapter of the Sierra Club conducted a rigorous interview process before submitting their recommendation for Escondido City Council to the State and National branches of the Sierra Club for approval. Previous Sierra Club endorsements in Escondido include current City Councilwoman Olga Diaz and former Councilman and current candidate for Mayor Tom D’Agosta.
