Members to vote on ‘tagline’ finalists at July meeting
After a long selection process, EDC members will consider several final phrases as candidates for the Club’s new ‘tagline’ — the few words often used with the Club name to help clarify its goals and purpose. Thanks to the members who submitted dozens of suggestions in the first phase of the project. A committee (Olga Diaz, Jason Everitt and Rick Moore) sifted through them and recommended a short list to the Club’s executive board, and the board submits the following finalists to members for their comments. Members will be asked to vote to vote on the tagline at the July 10 meeting.
The preferred phrase is:
1. Escondido Democratic Club — Creating an Escondido for Everyone
The other recommended phrases are:
2. Escondido Democratic Club — Progress through Community Action
3. Escondido Democratic Club — Working for a Better Escondido
4. Escondido Democratic Club — A Better Escondido for a Better America
Other options:
A. EDC can retain the phrase we have been using: “Yes, there ARE Democrats in Escondido!“
B. Or, we can have no tagline.
A final note: The executive board felt that supplementing the preferred tagline with three words describing characteristics EDC would like to see in the ideal Escondido would further explain our vision. These additional words –Tolerance-Dignity-Community –can be used in limited situations where there is additional space for explanation. Most of the time, the tagline will appear alone, as shown above in #1.
We want your comments!
Please take a moment to express your opinion about any or all of these options by using the comment feature below. We value your opinion and want a robust discussion! Remember that discussion closes just prior to the July 10 meeting, where a vote will be taken. Thanks!

I like Crating an Escondido for Everyone, just personal pick.
To me, “Creating an Escondido for Everyone” sound like a single issue. I would prefer “Creating a Better Escondido for Everyone”.
I still like the original “Yes, there ARE Democrats in Escondido!“ the best. It’s what had attracted my attention originally before I joined the club. Somehow the three new suggestions seem somewhat contrived to me – like an effort to come up with something new by all means.
Escondido Democratic Club – “Progress Through Community Action” covers everything that I feel this club is trying to do.
