President’s Message: Join ‘EDC Speaks Out!’

Greetings Fellow EDC Democrats!

I am pleased to announce an improvement to our already excellent website. We have added a tab at the top and side of the home page, titled, “EDC Speaks Out!” I would invite you to look through it and see how many EDC members are actively participating in the dialogue to improve our city and other regional and national topics. Additionally, it will show you the various mediums the club is using.

The purpose of this addition is twofold. First, we want to have a good visual display and repository of the political activism of the club. One can see that we are a club that in fact participates and contributes to the civic debate. One can also see that the status quo doesn’t have to remain if people are just willing to stand for an issue. It will also show what issues the Club believes are important.

Second, this is a complementary effort to the formation of two committees announced at the June meeting. One is the Speak Out! committee and the other is the Action committee. Both of these teams were created to add some structure and efficiency to our political action efforts. We encourage all of you to participate more fully in the important topics of the day.

Tied to this Speak Out! committee, the club has decided that your voice needs to be heard frequently at CC meetings. You will now see on our YouTube Channel, EDC members regularly discussing and challenging if necessary the direction of the City Council. (See the video below this message.)

Escondido is a wonderful city to live in. It deserves our participation in its stewardship. We will have only ourselves to blame if the city we chose to move to is no longer the city we want to live in.

Let’s continue to turn North County from red to blue. Speak Out!

Respectfully,

Paul McNamara, President
