EDC accepts Club of Year Award

More than twenty members of EDC joined with several hundred other Democrats for the 30th Annual Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt Dinner, held Saturday, April 10 at the Holiday Inn on the Bay in San Diego. At the event, EDC President Paul McNamara received the County Party’s 2010 Club of the Year award, which was presented by State Senator Christine Kehoe. Kehoe also presented the 2010 Volunteer of the Year award to EDC Vice President for Communications Rick Moore. Along with the glass plaque came a Certificate of Recognition from the California State Assembly, signed by Assemblymember Mary Salas of the 79th District.

Assembly Certificate of Recognition

This year’s awards continue recognition at the 2009 program, where EDC Vice President for Political Action Chris Nava and EDC member Grace Sloan shared the Volunteer of the Year award. North County was also proud of Betty Ball of the Lake San Marcos Democratic Club and the GO Team, who received the Vince Andrade Making A Difference Award for her work leading GO Team development.

The Roosevelt Dinner’s keynote speaker was California Secretary of State Debra Bowen. Also speaking were U.S. Representatives Susan Davis and Bob Filner, State Assemblymember Marty Block, and David Sanchez, president of the California Teachers Association. Actor and activist Mimi Kennedy, most recently seen in the Oscar-nominated “In The Loop,” was mistress of ceremonies.
