Supervisors kill Merriam Mountains development
Public opposition does get heard, even by the County Board of Supervisors!
The Merriam Mountains development, which would have crammed 2,630 homes into an area approved for about 300, was killed yesterday in a 3 – 2 vote. North County Supervisor Bill Horn voted FOR the project, along with Supervisor Greg Cox, who represents Southern San Diego County.
EDC member Michele Ann Mareck was quoted in the U-T story:
“I didn’t want to see the tops of Merriam Mountains chopped off and homes built on top,” said Michele Ann Mareck, a retired elementary schoolteacher from Escondido and member of the nonprofit group Good Planning Now.
