Jason Everitt launches council campaign

Jason Everitt speaks at campaign kickoff event

Neighbors, family and friends gathered at an open house Sunday, March 7 to hear Jason Everitt announce his candidacy for Escondido City Council. Everitt, EDC’s Vice President for Membership, said he will work to make sure the citizens of Escondido are represented in the decision-making process that will shape the city.

“The next few years will be crucial in securing a better future for Escondido,” he said. “We need new ideas, new energy, and new faces in City Hall. We cannot allow the same people and old assumptions that got us into this mess to keep us stuck in the muck. If we come together as a community, we can soften the effects of this recession and build a strong framework for the future.”

Everitt is a native of North County and lives in Escondido with his wife, Carly. He serves as a government policy analyst, budget watchdog, and blue-collar advocate with the Mission Valley-based Center on Policy Initiatives. He is a member of the inaugural class of the San Diego Chapter of the New Leaders Council. In January, he was named one of San Diego’s 35 Community Leaders Under 35. Everitt holds a degree in political science from the University of California, Santa Barbara and graduate degrees in public administration and international relations from the University of Southern California.
