Background: Why Prop. S is still necessary

by Margaret McCown Liles, President
In the 1990’s a group of citizens had grown tired of watching the fate of their neighborhoods and their City be determined by three pro-development City Council members. Too often they had watched unpopular, and poorly planned development proposals, turned down by the Planning Commission, and not recommended by the City [...]

Party splits over reform

The apparent loss of any kind of public option to compete with private, for-profit insurance companies has left progressives despondent and some are ready to bail. Former DNC Chair Howard Dean has called for dropping reform. The White House and some others respond by pointing to the beneficial parts of the Senate proposal and observing [...]

Urgent Call to Action

Stop Lieberman and out -of -touch conservatives from gutting health care reform. Sign a petition drawn by the Bold Progressives Organization that reads:
“Don’t let Joe Lieberman win! Americans need you to stand strong and block any ‘compromise’ without a strong public option. If necessary, demand that Sen. Harry Reid and President Obama support budget reconciliation and pass [...]
